Design Type: Restaurant Design: Design & Build

Kai Tak Sports Park F&B Space Design | Park Mountain Restaurant

An Urban Oasis Blending Nature and Inclusivity

Located in Hong Kong's newly developed landmark, Kai Tak Sports Park, Park Mountain is more than just a restaurant offering "Easygoing Dining"—it is a purpose-driven social enterprise dedicated to promoting social inclusivity by employing individuals with autism. Once Design Studio is deeply honored to participate in this meaningful commercial project. We translated the brand's heartwarming core values into a tangible spatial language, creating an urban oasis that perfectly intertwines natural mountain landscapes, vibrant sports elements, and the spirit of social inclusivity.

Design Concept: A Tapestry of Nature and Athletic Vitality

The design inspiration is closely tied to the brand's "Mountain" imagery and its physical location within the "Park" (Kai Tak Sports Park). We heavily utilized warm, light wood tones as the foundational palette to carve out a tranquil, stress-free natural atmosphere amidst a bustling shopping mall.

To echo the athletic energy of Kai Tak Sports Park, our design team cleverly integrated sports-themed details throughout the space. For instance, the creative "basketball hoop" installation on the wall, the design fosters an engaging dialogue between casual dining and the spirit of sports.

Key Design Highlights & Spatial Layout

  • Streamlined Wooden Facade & Takeout Zone: The restaurant's exterior features a highly modern light wood slat design with gentle, curved corners, softening the typical coldness of commercial spaces. A clearly defined and independent "Cashier" and "Pick-up" counter flow not only enhances operational efficiency but also effectively attracts and manages the mall's heavy foot traffic.
  • Nature-Inspired Dining Area: The walls in the dining area use faux-stone textures to outline geometric mountain shapes, complemented by lush indoor greenery along the base. Paired with custom-made forest green booth seating and comfortable grey upholstered chairs, this area provides diners with a relaxing environment that feels like stepping into nature.
  • Playful and Warm Lighting Details: The space is accented with uniquely eye-catching "croissant" shaped wall lamps and woven pendant lights that exude a handcrafted feel. These touches add a warm, playful, and artisanal bakery-cafe vibe to the overall atmosphere.

ESG Sustainable & Inclusive Design: A People-Centric F&B Space

The Park Mountain project is a prime example of seamlessly integrating commercial design with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles. We deeply embedded the brand's social responsibility into the physical design:

  • Social Inclusivity & Low-Stress Environment (Social - Well-being): Responding to the brand's noble mission of employing autistic staff, our spatial layout emphasizes intuitive and spacious circulation (Universal Design). The entire area utilizes low-stimulation natural earth tones, rounded furniture with no sharp edges, and soft, anti-glare indirect lighting. This "emotionally friendly" environmental design effectively reduces sensory overload, providing a safe, reassuring workspace for employees and an ultimately healing dining experience for guests.

  • Brand Storytelling Wall (Governance - Sustainability Storytelling): At a prominent spot near the entrance, we designed a highly textured, backlit stone feature wall that clearly etches the moving philosophy behind "PARK" and the "A" (Autism) in their logo. The physical space becomes the best medium for the brand's voice, allowing every customer to feel this goodwill and corporate social responsibility the moment they step in.

  • Biophilic Design & Eco-Friendly Materials (Environmental): We introduced abundant natural plant elements (Biophilic Design) to enhance the space's vitality and indoor air quality. Furthermore, we prioritized the use of eco-friendly wood materials and high-efficiency LED lighting systems, fulfilling a commitment to low-carbon and green operations.
